Simulating a large aperture, wide field survey telescope with a 3.2 Gpixel camera


For each LSST pointing, ray-tracing over 1011 photons through a multi-layer atmosphere, through the telescope and camera optics (including aberrations) and simulating the conversion of these photons within the detector.


A simulated sky down to r=28 with stars and galaxies for static, variable and moving sources with a realistic spatially variable PSF, a variable sky background, and including airmass and chromatic effects.
